1. Your ongoing assignments are to stay on your own team and keep activating your superpower of Awareness by noticing what you notice. The rest really does take care of itself as you notice and choose.

Sessions Two/Three - Resources and Assignments




Session Six - Emotional Intelligence - Resources and Assignments


1. New video (above) - the basics of the emotional intelligence model (around 7mins)  


2. Continue to pause several times a day and turn your attention inwards - ask yourself “How am I feeling?” … if this is challenging, try using a frame that is a metaphor eg: ’Right now I feel like a leaf in a hurricane’ or ‘Right now I feel like I have ants in my pants/I’m fizzing like champagne!’ At the end of each day, summarise to yourself what sort of day you had on the inside. Notice. No judgements, only noticing. If you discover insights, write about/draw them. 


3. The Superpowers framework identifies BUGS in the human operating system. Our Superpowers of Awareness, Intuition, Imagination, Reason and Will are expansive forces and promote growth and evolution. BUGS are contractive forces. They pin us down. Notice any BUGS that are holding you back in any way. These BUGS are Blame, Undermining, Guilt, and Shame. All can be handbrakes and the more we notice their presence, the easier it is to eliminate them...by noticing, and choosing what we 'pay' attention to.


Buddy check in: Stay connected and reap the rewards. Stay on each others' team and explore how you can support your buddy getting what they want from the programme.

2. Buddy check in: Stay connected and reap the rewards. As you feel safer with each other you will become more and more able to serve each other in the peer coaching capacity. Ask questions that provoke insight and listen deeply for feeling and meaning as well as the content. It's all about your capacity for staying present.


3. Journal your noticings or talk them through with a safe pair of ears. Processing life as we go is healthy, even as we tidy up some historic patterning along the way. 


4. Enter question mode for one day.  Notice what you notice and be on the hunt for insights.


5. Watch this 10min TEDX talk about trust.


Moving right along, next session we will be exploring emotional intelligence, what it's all about and how we can grow ours. In the meantime, (you know what I'm going to say ;)) notice your relationship with your emotional self.

Session Four - Stress Management and productivity - online speed date - Resources and Assignments


1. Handout supplement (PDF) - a few tips and reminders plus the 'A Slice of Now' proper copy - I missed 'social'!



Reminder guidance for this are as follows (in case you want to lead someone else through the process):

Consider each slice as a % (this is not about a pie). If 0% was the centre and 100% was the outside edge, intuit how much of your life energy goes into each slice (as you interpret the headings).

We are talking quantity not quality eg: Lots of life energy might go to finance but it could be worry energy.

When complete all the way around, write 'yes' or 'no' in answer to the question:

'Am I happy with both the quantity AND quality of life energy going to each slice?'

If you get YES all the way around let's talk ;)


Once you have your yes/no answers complete (and btw 'yes and no' means NO) draw an arrow for each slice indicating your intention to put more energy in to that slice, or bring it down. That's it - no goal setting. We are simply gaining clarity and forming a clear intention. Time estimate start to finish is around x15mins. No need to overthink this.

You have an additional sheet to review in around 3 months so you can 'see' if your intentions had any impact. One moment of clear intent can change change everything!


2. Buddy check in: A safe pair of ears is priceless to help you process your weekly experiences and practise the coaching basics. Coaching as a leadership approach is the go! Ask good questions and listen deeply - fully present.


3. Journal your noticings regarding the three relationships - you with YOU, you with OTHERS and you with EVERYTHING. Paying any attention to these will be life enhancing.


4. Reflect on your progress with the productivity hacks - 7-8hrs sleep, 45-50min block times through the day to progress YOUR work, Regular stretch/change of scenery breaks through the day, morning and after work routines/rituals to embed new habits, dim the lights/no screen for an hour before bedtime...

Essence of Facilitation - Sessions Two/Three - Assignments and resources

1. STAYING PRESENT: Keep NOTICING what you notice - Noticing activates the superpower of Awareness. As we get into the habit, it is easier to observe ourselves and choose responses rather than reacting from egoic triggers.

This is GREAT practise space for peer coaching and will help you stay accountable to your intentions, and your action plan. Even adding one small thing a week will be enabling. Incremental forward movement adds up!

Session One Assignments and Resources


1. NOTICE what you notice - without judgement (curiosity is more useful). Raising Awareness is simple. We bring our attention into the present moment and observe thoughts and feelings as we breathe quite consciously and deliberately. Even a short connection will grow your capacity to 'stay present' more. It is very easy to become distracted if we do not have the mental discipline to focus attention 'on demand'. We will gently and naturally midwife ourselves into next level capacity to be fully present in life - to show up.


If we try to hurry the process, we can 'blow a fuse' so please trust your process deeply. - no digging up your spuds to see how they're going. I promise you, you can afford to lean in to yourself on this.

For now, there is nothing to 'do' but notice. We will condition ourselves to a bigger 'charge' as we grow this capacity this year. The present moment is loaded with infinite possibility. It's where the ACTION is, and all the feels that go with that action! As we develop, we grow the capacity to stay present to the emotional content of life but if we opened to it all at once we would combust! Let's take good care around that. Wisdom is in knowing how to pace yourself. Our individuality is a conduit for life energy... it is brilliant! 

 

2. Reflecting on what you believe is important in a Leader (your leadership values), please reflect on your share in session, review your notes and others' feedback, and observe your own actions and behaviours day-to-day. By opening yourself to rating how you go with living them for real week by week ('walking your talk'), you will tune in more and more to your own integrity, and you will notice when you stray (the choice is then yours as to what to do with that noticing).


This can be a great topic for a great peer coaching conversation. Choose a rating scale to evaluate 'walking your talk' for yourself

Eg: % or out of 10 etc. Journal your noticings/reflections each week around your top five. Do you keep your word? Do you say what you mean and mean what you say? Nothing to 'do' but notice with genuine curiosity. Treat yourself as a topic of study from here on, and begin considering the best coach you could be - to yourself. We will explore this more. 

 

3. Check in with your buddies and coach each other through an action plan (link to a template below)

This is the space to practise your listening and coaching skills, to seek support in challenging moments (you do not need to suffer alone. Remember we are all here to serve each other and in so doing, help each other grow. The idea is you all get clear about what you want to learn more about/skills you want to build, and then you set about helping each other gain them when we are together (and any other time you give the relationship). Your first 'assignment' is to coach each other through the action plan... just beginning to sketch a few things out. Your buddies are now accountability buddies as well as your coaches! There will be riches in these relationships - your job is to hunt for your treasure :)

Ideally you will have completed this action plan by the time we are together again.

This is the framework you want when you have a handful of magic beans ;)
